The STEM Careers Program has announced the registration schedule for the 21st NSTC by HEC and PIEAS 2024.  Winners of this contest will have the opportunity to represent Pakistan in various international science competitions, such as the International Biology Olympiad, International Mathematics Olympiad, International Physics Olympiad, and International Chemistry Olympiad. Interested individuals can submit their applications for the Pakistan Science Talent Olympiad by February 18, 2024. The test for this competition will be conducted on March 03, 2024.

The winner of the contest will receive a prize money of PKR 1,20,000/-. Furthermore, the selected team for the Olympiads will be granted admission into the BS program at PIEAS without the need to appear for any entrance exams. 21st National Science Talent Contest (NSTC)

The 21st National Science Talent Contest (NSTC) is a collaborative effort by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) in 2024. The NSTC aims to identify and nurture exceptional scientific talent among undergraduate students across Pakistan. It provides a platform for students to showcase their knowledge, problem-solving skills, and scientific aptitude.

The NSTC features various competitions and challenges in disciplines such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science. Participating students are selected through a rigorous selection process at the institutional and regional levels. The selected students then compete at the national level in the final round of the contest.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must currently be enrolled as students in pre-9th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, pursuing either matric/O-Level or FSc-1 A-Level-1.
  1. Academic Requirements: Students should have achieved an aggregate of 60% or more in core subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics in their most recent examinations.
  2. Age Limit: Contestants must be under the age of 20 as of June 30, 2025.
  3. Exclusion Criteria: Students currently enrolled in FSc-II or A-level Part 2, as well as university students, are not eligible to participate in the competition.

Awards Winners

The gold medal and a cash prize of Rs.220,000 will be awarded to the participant who secures the first position. The second position will receive the silver medal along with a cash prize of Rs.80,000. The third position will be honored with the bronze medal and a cash prize of Rs.60,000. The participants following them will receive the Honorable Mention award along with a cash prize of Rs.50,000. Lastly, the participation award will be accompanied by a cash prize of Rs.20,000.

Participation Certifications and PIEAS Offer

In the 21st NSTC by HEC and PIEAS 2024, the top 500 participants in each subject will receive a participation certificate. Additionally, PIEAS has announced that team members of the Olympiads will be eligible for admission to the BS programs at the institute without being required to appear in the entrance exams.

International Science Olympiads 2024

The students should take note that the international science Olympiads will be overseen in various countries. Australia will host the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad, the UAE will conduct the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad, the Philippines will organize the 36th International Biology Olympiad, and France will manage the 55th International Physics Olympiad.

How to Apply for 21st NSTC by HEC and PIEAS

  • Candidates can register themselves for NSTC-21 through the STEM Website
  • Candidates were required to pay Rs. 800 for processing fees.
  • Applicants have to deposit the fees in bank Account # 00427991660803(Account Title: PIEASAPF) of Habib Bank Limited
  • The date of the last day is 18 February 2024.

Registration Procedure for 21st NSTC by HEC and PIEAS

  1. Online Registration: Students are required to complete the online registration forms with accurate and current details. The process includes on-the-spot age verifications, streamlining the verification process and saving time compared to manual checks.
  2. Fee Deposit and Information Submission: After completing registration, students proceed to pay the required fees and submit their information online. This involves uploading scanned copies of the submitted fee Chalan.
  3. Verification through Control Panel: The administrative team will verify student information and cross-check details with the submitted Chalan through the control panel.
  4. Center Allocation and Call Letter Issuance: Test centers and schedules will be allocated online. A call letter containing all necessary details will be generated and sent to verified students.
  5. Download Call Letters: Verified students can easily download their call letters from the official website, containing essential information about the test center and timing.
