The Ministry of Religious Affairs has released preliminary information regarding the Hajj policy for the year 2024. Government Hajj Package Prices 2024
The government has announced Hajj Policy 2024 under which the Hajj package for each pilgrim has been reduced by one hundred thousand rupees. The long-term Hajj packages include a regular scheme for a 38 to 42-day stay and eight days of stay in Madinah. The regular scheme rate is Rs1,065,000 for the South Region including Karachi, Quetta and Sukkur. The regular scheme rate will be 1,075,000 for the North Region and other cities. The new Hajj total cost under the government scheme has been reduced to 1075000 rupees for the next Hajj from 1175000 of this year’s Hajj. There will be no compromise on the quality of Hajj arrangements regardless of reduction in expenses. Please note that these prices are estimates and are subject to change. The Minister for Religious Affairs said the Hajj quota for Pakistan is 179210 which will be equally distributed between the government and private hajj schemes. Negotiations are continuing with the airlines to get reduced airfare for the Hajj operation. If they succeed in securing relief in the airfare, the amount will be transferred to the accounts of pilgrims. The pilgrims will also get back thirty-five thousand rupees if they choose to stay four instead of eight days in Madina.
Haj 2024 Quota
- Applicants who have performed Haj during the last seven years will not be eligible to apply for Haj 2024 under the government scheme. Similarly, for private Haj schemes, the limit may be restricted to the last five years.
- Hajj-e-Badal will be allowed through private Haj operators only.
- The Hajj Policy Formulation Committee of the Supreme Court have recommended the abolishment of the ‘hardship quota’ in the Haj scheme.
- Saudi Arabia has allocated a quota of 179,210 pilgrims for Hajj 2024, adding that it will be equally distributed between the government and private hajj schemes.

Permit
Worshippers no longer have to book an appointment to perform prayer in the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. However, they’ll have to get a Hajj permit via Absher, the online app.
Health Guidelines
Saudi Arabia has lifted many COVID-19-related restrictions within the country. At present, wearing a face mask in public spaces is not a requirement. However, it is mandatory for entry into the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, and locations where Weqaya gave safety guidelines. The Road to Makkah project is an initiative that aims to facilitate direct access into the sacred city of Makkah to pilgrims coming from Pakistan and four other nations. For pilgrims from Pakistan, this initiative allows direct flights from airports located in Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi. Along with that, the Road to Makkah initiative provides the following:
- The issue of e-visas and their approval with the department of immigration
- passport and necessary characteristic scans at the airport. It allows for faster arrival
- Identification and sorting of luggage belonging to pilgrims by transferring them to the designated accommodation
- Direct transfer of Pakistani pilgrims on buses to their accommodation at Makkah and Madina.
