Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) Test Criteria and Registration Process

The ISSB (Inter Services Selection Board) is a renowned institution in several countries that assesses the suitability of candidates for officer commissions in the armed forces. Aspiring candidates undergo a rigorous selection process at the ISSB, which includes various physical, psychological, and aptitude tests. For the year 2024, the ISSB has released the test dates and schedule for male and female candidates, spanning over five days. These schedules provide prospective officers with a clear timeline for their assessments, allowing them to prepare and present their best selves during the selection process. Let’s delve into the details of the ISSB test dates and schedule for both male and female candidates in 2024.

ABOUT ISSB TEST

The Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) is a prestigious commission in Pakistan responsible for selecting candidates for the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, and Pak Army. It conducts the ISSB Test, a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation that assesses candidates’ physical, mental, cognitive, moral, and social abilities to determine their suitability for defense positions. The test spans multiple days, with candidates being evaluated daily on various aspects. The main focus is to determine if a candidate possesses the qualities required to be an officer. Failure to demonstrate these qualities results in a candidate not being selected for an officer commission. The ISSB Test is regarded as one of the most challenging selection processes in Pakistan.

ISSB TEST PURPOSE

The ISSB serves the primary purpose of selecting qualified candidates for Pakistan’s defense department, emphasizing problem-solving and decision-making skills essential for officers and leaders. Known for its rigorous evaluation, the ISSB assesses unique skills not typical in an average soldier through simulations of real-world situations. Candidates passing departmental exams proceed to the Inter Services Selection Board for further assessment, making the ISSB a crucial step in identifying capable individuals for the Army, navy, and air force.

  • Notification: The ISSB announces the registration period through official channels, including newspapers, websites, and social media platforms. Prospective candidates are advised to keep an eye out for these notifications.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must carefully review the eligibility criteria outlined by the ISSB. This includes age limits, educational qualifications, and physical fitness requirements. Only those who meet the criteria are eligible to apply.
  • Application Submission: Candidates need to obtain the application form from the designated ISSB centers or download it from the official website. The application form must be filled out accurately and completely with the required information.
