The United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) was established in 1950 by the governments of Pakistan and the United States. For the Masters degree program, eligible candidates will have either a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s and Master’s combination totaling 16 years of formal education from an accredited university.  Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply, except for MBA applicants, who require 3 years of work experience.

For PhD Degree Program:

For the PhD degree program, eligible applicants will have a Master’s, M.Phil or comparable degree (a minimum of 18 years of formal education) from an accredited university. It is highly desirable that candidates have work experience in teaching, research, or the public sector in Pakistan.

Cycle of Working

Applications are accepted every year in February. The deadline for submitting applications is in April. The review of applications and interview process is ongoing until September before the final results are announced around the middle of April 12, 2024. After the selection process, the university’s submission and the process for placement continue until February, and visa interviews are held until June. Eligibility Criteria to Apply

For both the Masters and PhD programs, all academic disciplines are eligible, except clinical medicine. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for all applicants. Ineligibility for Apply

People with dual U.S./Pakistani nationality or who have a fiancé, spouse, or parent over the age of 18 who is or was a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Employees of the Fulbright organization and USAID, the U.S. Department of State, USAID, their spouses and siblings, children, finances or dependents, and parents. Students are currently taking classes within their studies in the United States or on a residency or work visa. Plagiarism, false publications, or any other false information could cause the disqualification of any participant in the program.

Selection Process of Organization

The process of selection has four phases:

Round 1: Screening process is to screen all applications for completeness and the requirement of minimum qualifications.

Round 3: Personal or online interviews with short-listed candidates will occur between July and September. The panel of interviewers is comprised of members of U.S. and Pakistani citizens.

Round 4: Finalists and alternates will be selected in October. Finalists and alternates are informed via e-mail and official acceptance letters. Candidates who aren’t chosen will only be notified via mail.

Final approval is granted through the Foreign Scholarship Board in Washington, D.C.
