What is Brunei Government Scholarship?

Each year, the Government of Brunei Darussalam offers a variety of fully-funded and funded scholarships to international students who wish to study at Brunei Universities. International scholarships are available for students from all over the world to help them brighten their careers. Brunei Darussalam Scholarships 2024 Program is government-funded under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Foreign Students to Undertake Diplomas, Undergraduate/Bachelors Degree, Postgraduate Masters Degrees as well as Ph.D. Degree programs in different Brunei universities. Each degree level has a variety of degrees. The language of instruction in Brunei Darussalam is English.

This scholarship is an initiative by the government of Brunei Darussalam to sponsor international students who wish to study, conduct research, or develop their professional skills in this peaceful country. The program offers selected applicants the chance to study for a Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Postgraduate Master’s degree.

Eligibility Criteria to Apply

• For Undergraduate and Diploma programs, you must not be older than 25 years. Postgraduate Master’s degree programs must start at 35 years.

• All applicants must apply online.
• First, applicants must download the application form from this website.
• Please provide your personal information, education experience, and language proficiency details.
• All fields must be filled with care.
• Mention the first and second choices of the program and the university.
• The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must endorse your complete application form.
• The security clearance form from your National Security Agency (or Police Station) in your country must be submitted.
• All supporting documents must be either in Word, pdf, or jpg format.
• You must also fill out an application for University Brunei Darussalam if you’re applying.

Coverage of Brunei Darussalam BS and MS Scholarship

• Tuition fees include acceptance, examination, registration, and orientation fees for the duration.
• Economy class air ticket to Brunei Darussalam from the scholarship recipient’s country of origin/ country of domicile prior to the commencement of the course and an economy class air ticket from Brunei Darussalam to the scholarship recipient’s country of origin/country of domicile upon completion of the course;

2. Monthly meals allowance of BND$150.00;
3. Annual book allowance of BND$600.00;
4. Accommodation at the residential college of the University/ Polytechnic;

• Baggage allowance for shipment of the scholarship recipient’s personal effects to the country of origin/country of domicile upon completion of the program, at a maximum amount of BND$500.00 to a country outside the ASEAN region;
• Comprehensive insurance for the whole duration of the Scholarship.

Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship for Foreign Students

This scholarship is for international students who have just begun their studies in Brunei Darussalam. Bruneians, Brunei Permanent Residents, and international students who have previously studied at Brunei tertiary schools are not eligible. Students with a strong academic background who wish to study at the best universities in Asia must take advantage of the Brunei Darussalam Scholarship Program. Students who wish to enroll in a Bachelor’s or Diploma program, as well as a Postgraduate Master’s Program in Brunei, can apply for the program.

Students who are eligible for the Brunei Government Scholarship program will benefit from enhanced academic and professional knowledge to help them compete in the global competitive environment. The Brunei government is keen to increase the number of international students within the country through this scholarship program. This would not only be beneficial for the citizens, but also for Brunei’s government.

Brunei Darussalam BS and MS Scholarship Duration

The University of Brunei has 3 types of scholarships.

• Master by Coursework: The study period will vary depending on the program. It can be 12 (12) or 18 (18) months full-time.
• Master by Research: This course will last twenty-four (24) full-time months.
• Doctor of Philosophy: The minimum period of study for the doctor of philosophy is 36 (36) months, or 60 (60) months part-time, depending on the program.

• The economy class flight ticket option will be provided from Brunei University to the citizen’s home country, and vice versa.
• Monthly allowances of BND 500 are available.

• The baggage allowance, which is BND$250 if a country is within the ASEAN region’s domain and BND$5pp if a country is not in that region, is given upon completion of the program.

Written Test and Interview

Universities offering these programs might require applicants to take a written test to assess their proficiency in English, Malay, and Arabic. They may also ask them to visit the interview location specified by the institution (where applicable). Applicants may be asked to appear at interview locations as determined by the institutions that offer the programs. The selection of the candidates will be made in a final decision. Any disputes or inquiries pertaining to the decision made will not be entertained.
