Senate Passed PMDC Bill

Last week the PMC Pakistan Medical Commission was dissolved by the PM of Pakistan, Mr.Shehbaz Sharif. The committee of Senate standing for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination NHSRC recently passed a bill. That meeting was held in Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday. The title for the account was “The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Bill, 2024,” which passed for the restoration of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council PMDC. Senator Saleem Mandviwalla and Abdul Qadir Patel presented the bill. The minister of NHSRC, Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel, announced that The MDCAT test would be conducted at a provincial level in the Provincial Public  Sector Medical University for respective provinces.

The council will represent all the provinces, universities, and health centers. In other words, we can say that the University of Health Sciences UHS will conduct MDCAT for the session of 2024 for registration in medical and dental colleges in Punjab. The KMU MDCAT will be held in KP for admissions to KP government and private medical and dental colleges of KP. Similarly, Sindh will conduct its entrance test.

Mr.Abdul Qadir said that the bill also includes the National Licensing Examination NLE conducted to provide the license to medical students. Now the applicable license will be given to them, and the practice of NLE will be abolished hopefully for the next time.
