Summary of this lesson

Hazrat Asma (R.A.) was the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (R.A.) and the sister of Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqah (R.A.). During the migration of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A.) from Makkah to Madinah, she provided them with food and other necessities in the Cave of Thawr.

When there was no rope available to tie the food container, Hazrat Asma (R.A.) tore her waistband into two pieces. She used one piece to tie the food and the other to secure her clothes. Because of this act, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) gave her the title Zat-un-Nitaqain, meaning the woman with two belts.

When Abu Jahl came to ask about the whereabouts of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A.), Hazrat Asma (R.A.) refused to give him any information. She faced his anger bravely and remained firm. Her life teaches us courage, faith, patience, loyalty, wisdom and sacrifice.
