System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a step by step process of creating computer system. It is a conceptual model which represents the necessary steps used for the development process of a software system.

Objectives of (SDLC)

The objectives of SDLC are as follows.

1 To develop information systems in an efficient and effective manner.

2. Delivery of quality software that meet the customer expectations.
3. Delivery of inexpensive and cost-effective software which are easily maintainable.
4. Maximize productivity in terms of software system delivered.
5. Establish proper level of management authority to direct, coordinate, control, review and approve the software development project.
6. SDLC should ensure the project management accountability.
7. Proper documentation of all the requirements required for the development of new software system.

A system may be defined as, an Integration (combination) of components or parts linked together according to some specific plan to achieve certain common objectives.

The software development life cycle (SDLC) is a problem-solving process through which a series of steps helps to produce new software. The entire steps conducted in a sequence should provide the answers to a problem. This procedure to build software has a lot of importance due to the following points.

1 SDLC breaks down the complete life cycle of software development into phases (step) by making it easier for the development team members to easily check each part of software development.

2. SDLC makes it easier for programmers to work concurrently on each phase.
3. SDLC provides rough time estimate that when the software will be available for use.
4. SDLC delivers quality software which meets or exceeds customer expectation.
