GAT (Graduate Assessment Test)

The GAT (Graduate Assessment Test) is a standardized test conducted by Pakistan’s National Testing Service (NTS). It is designed to assess the aptitude, analytical skills, and subject-specific knowledge of candidates aspiring to pursue higher education or seeking admission to various academic programs. The GAT test is widely accepted by universities and institutions across Pakistan for admissions and scholarships.

The GAT test is available in two main categories:

GAT General

The GAT General test is intended for candidates who have completed sixteen years of education (e.g., a Bachelor’s degree) from a recognized institution.
It assesses the candidate’s general knowledge, analytical reasoning, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning abilities.
The GAT General test does not focus on any specific subject area but evaluates the candidate’s overall aptitude and skills.

2. GAT Subject

The Graduate Assessment Test GAT-SUBJECT is for Ph.D. programs. The GAT Subject test is designed for candidates who have completed eighteen years of education (e.g., a Bachelor’s degree followed by a Master’s degree) from a recognized institution.
The subject test helps to evaluate, analyze, solve problems, understand relationships, and interpret material in a specific area of study.
It assesses the candidate’s subject-specific knowledge in a particular field of study.

It is important to note that while the GAT test is conducted by the NTS, individual universities and institutions may have specific requirements, including minimum score thresholds and additional selection criteria.

Candidates are advised to carefully review the specific requirements of their desired universities or institutions and prepare accordingly for the GAT test category that aligns with their academic background and goals.

Validity of NTS GAT Test

* The test result will remain valid for “TWO YEARS” for admissions.
