The University of Karachi has officially opened its admissions for the 2025 session, inviting applications to its distinguished M.Phil and Ph.D research programs, as well as MS, ME, LLM, MD, and MS (Surgery) degrees. The application window will remain open from June 23 to July 7, 2025, during which candidates are required to download the prospectus and admission form from the KU website, complete all necessary documentation (including educational certificates, CNIC copies, and photographs), pay the prescribed fees via bank voucher, and submit them to the appropriate department or research centre. Eligible applicants will be listed on the university portal by July 18, 2025, followed by the issuance of admit cards between July 21 and 23.

Eligibility Criteria for M.Phil and Ph.D.

For M.Phil:

  • Sc. or 4-year B.S. degree in relevant fields (e.g., Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Zoology, Biomedical Engineering).
  • Professional degrees such as M.B.B.S., B.D.S., Pharm.D. are accepted.
  • Must have at least second division from an HEC-recognized university.
  • Students with clinical degrees may be required to complete 15 or 24 credit hours (500 level) before starting M.Phil level courses.

For Ph.D.:

  • Phil., M.Pharm., or equivalent in related fields from an HEC-recognized institution.
  • Relevant disciplines include: Biochemistry, Genetics, Applied Chemistry, Physiology, etc.
