Describe the Holland’s farm?
Holland Farm is the land where Joel and his family live. It is spread on 245 acre hilly area. It is situated near Scales Mound, a town of 400 people. The farmer was bought by the great grandfather of Joel in 1860. It a rice black soil, ploughed by Holland for 120 years.

Joel does not agree with his brother about the reward of a farming life . One of his brothers considers farming an independent life. He says that in farming one has no boss. Joel , .on the other hand, believes that farming is not an independent life. In it one has many bosses. Being the youngest, Joel obeys his father and brothers like running for tractor or finding forgotten tools.
What skills must a farmer have to run a farmer like the Hollands’?
In order to run a farm like the Hollands, a farmer must know many skills. He must be skilled in operating machines like tractors. At the same times, He must be skilful in raising livestock and tending them when sick. He should be an agriculturist who grows food on a larger scale.
Joel says that of all the places on earth, he would choose to live “right here”- -on the farmer. Do you think his choice a good one?
I think Joel’s choice to live on the farmer house is a good one because the country life provides him the Joys of peaceful life independent life. He works in the lap of nature which in itself is a blessing of good.
