LCAT Syllabus & Paper Pattern 2026

The LCAT is a paper-based test that mirrors the SAT I pattern. It does NOT test memorized facts; it tests your aptitude.

LCAT Structure

  • Total Duration: Approx. 3 Hours
  • Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Calculators: Strictly Prohibited

Section Breakdown

Verbal Section (English):

  • Reading Comprehension: Long passages followed by analytical questions.
  • Writing & Language: Grammar, sentence correction, and vocabulary in context.

Quantitative Section (Mathematics):

  • Arithmetic: Percentages, Ratios, Profit/Loss.

How to Apply for LUMS Entry Test 2026?

Follow these steps to register before the January 27 deadline:

  1. Create Account: Visit admissions.lums.edu.pk and create an online account.
  2. Fill Application: Enter your personal details and academic history (Matric/O-Level & F.Sc/A-Level).
  3. Select Test: Choose LCAT if you have not taken the SAT. If you are taking the SAT in March, enter your registration details.
  4. Pay Fee: Print the fee voucher and pay it at any designated bank branch.
  5. Submit: Upload the paid voucher and hit the “Submit” button on the portal.

FAQs

Q: Is LCAT easier than SAT?
A: Generally, LCAT is considered slightly tougher than the Digital SAT because it is paper-based and calculators are NOT allowed. However, the syllabus is almost identical.

Q: Is there Negative Marking in LCAT?
A: LUMS does not officially disclose this every year, but historically, there is No Negative Marking. You should attempt all questions.

Q: Can I apply with a SAT score instead of LCAT?
A: Yes! You can choose either LCAT or SAT. If you take both, LUMS will consider the better score. For Fall 2026, the last acceptable SAT date is March 14, 2026.

Q: What is a “Good Score” for LUMS?
A: LUMS does not announce cut-off marks. However, a safe target is:

SAT: 1350+

LCAT: Top 10-15 percentile of applicants.

Q: Do I need the Scientific Aptitude Test for Computer Science?
A: Yes. If you apply for BS Computer Science (under SBASSE), the Scientific Aptitude Test is Mandatory.
