PM Laptop Scheme Merit List 2026 (Phase 5) – Selected Candidates List

The Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, a flagship part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), continues to empower students by providing free laptops to eligible and meritorious youth enrolled in HEC-recognized public sector universities and higher education institutions. Originally launched to bridge the digital divide and support academic success, the program has been extended into 2026 with enhanced merit listing and distribution cycles.

The official laptop merit lists indicate which students are selected based on academic performance and eligibility verification. For the 2025 cycle, registrations were completed and the first distribution wave started on 30 October 2025. Merit lists continue to be updated as more candidates are processed, laptops are dispatched, and additional slots are released. Students who applied earlier can still check their status online, while preparation is underway for fresh openings and merit lists scheduled in 2026.

This updated guide provides the latest 2026 PM Laptop Scheme Merit List details, including how to check merit lists online, interpret status results, verify eligibility, track distribution, and understand next steps for selected or waiting candidates.

PM Laptop Scheme Merit List 2025

PM Laptop Scheme Merit List Schedule 2026

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) follows a strict timeline for Phase 5. Below are the expected dates for the display of merit lists:

Event Timeline / Status
Registration Closing February 2026
Data Verification (by Universities) March 2026
Provisional Merit List Display April 2026 (Expected)
Period for Corrections/Appeals 10 Days after Provisional List
Final Merit List (Award List) May 2026
Laptop Distribution Starts June 2026

Note: The Provisional Merit List is NOT the final list. It is displayed solely for students to verify their CGPA and academic details.

How to Check Your Merit Status Online

You do not need to wait for the PDF file to know your status. The PMYP portal updates your profile in real-time.

  • Login: Visit https://laptop.pmyp.gov.pk/ and log in with your CNIC and Password.
  • View Status: Check the “Application Status” tab on your dashboard.

Understand Your Status:

  • Applied: Your application is in the system.
  • Verified: Your university Focal Person has confirmed your academic data (GPA/CGPA). This does not guarantee a laptop yet.
  • Disapproved: Your application was rejected (usually due to incorrect data or ineligibility).
  • Selected: Congratulations! You are within the merit quota and will receive a laptop.
  • Not Selected: You meet the criteria, but your CGPA was not high enough to fall within the allocated quota for your department.

How the Merit is Calculated (Selection Criteria)

For Phase 5 (2026), the merit logic remains consistent:

Merit-Based: Laptops are awarded purely on GPA/CGPA.

Quota System: Each university has a specific share of laptops. Within the university, laptops are divided among departments and degree levels (Bachelors, Masters, PhD).

Priority:

  1. PhD Scholars
  2. MPhil / MS Students
  3. Bachelors / Masters Students (Top performers in each department)

FAQs

Q: My status is “Verified” for months. What does it mean?

Q: Can I get a laptop if I am in the “Waiting List”?
A: Yes, if a “Selected” student is disqualified or has already received a laptop, the slot is given to the next top student on the waiting list.

Q: Where will the distribution ceremony be held?
A: Once selected, you will receive an email or SMS with the date and venue (usually your university’s main auditorium).
