DUET Karachi was found during its travels in Dawood College of Engineering and Technology Karachi, found by Gen. Dawood, the former president of Pakistan. Gen. Dawood founded the college by Dawood Foundation in 1964. Dawood Foundation in 1964 under the leadership of Seth Ahmed Dawood. The engineering college was establish on March 13, 2013; they transformed it into the DUET.

Dawood University of Engineering and Technology DUET Karachi started its expansion out of Dawood College of Engineering and Technology Karachi, which was establish close to the former president of Pakistan, Gen. Ayub Khan, in 1962. The college was later, in March 2013, transferred to the DUET. The college currently offers several graduate, undergrad, and post-alumni postgraduate programs.
