The Hare and the Tortoise
For 8th Class Student
Once a hare and a tortoise lived near a jungle and a river. They were good friends. The hare was very fast, and the tortoise was very slow. The hare often made fun of the tortoise. One day, the tortoise challenged the hare to a race. The hare laughed but agreed. A tree was chosen as the finish line. The race began. The hare ran very fast and soon disappeared. Seeing the tortoise far behind, the hare decided to rest and soon fell asleep. Meanwhile, the tortoise kept walking slowly but steadily. He passed the sleeping hare and reached the tree first. When the hare woke up, he ran quickly but it was too late. He felt ashamed that the slow tortoise had won the race.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
For 9th Class Student
Once upon a time, a hare and a tortoise lived in a forest. Though they were friends, the hare always teased the tortoise for being slow. The tortoise grew tired of this and one day challenged the hare to a race.
The hare burst out laughing but accepted the challenge. A tree far away was selected as the finish line. As the race began, the hare sprinted ahead, leaving the tortoise far behind. Confident of winning, he decided to rest under a tree and soon fell asleep.
The tortoise, on the other hand, kept moving steadily. He passed the sleeping hare and finally reached the finish line. When the hare woke up and rushed toward the end, he found the tortoise already there. The hare had lost, and the tortoise had won.
Moral: Slow and steady wins the race.
For 11th Class Student
In a quiet forest near a riverbank, a swift hare and a slow-moving tortoise lived as unlikely friends. The hare often boasted of his speed and ridiculed the tortoise for his sluggish pace. Tired of the mockery, the tortoise calmly challenged the hare to a race.
Amused, the hare accepted with confidence. A tall tree on the other side of the forest was chosen as the finish line. As the race began, the hare darted ahead and was soon out of sight. Certain of his victory, he decided to take a nap midway, thinking he had plenty of time.
Meanwhile, the tortoise trudged forward—slow, but determined. Without stopping, he quietly passed the sleeping hare and eventually crossed the finish line. When the hare awoke and rushed to the end, he was shocked to see the tortoise already there.
Humbled and ashamed, the hare learned a valuable lesson that day.
Moral: Consistency and patience often outperform arrogance and haste.
