On a hot summer day, a hungry fox was wandering in search of food. After a long time, she came across a vineyard and saw a bunch of ripe, juicy grapes hanging high from a vine. Her mouth watered at the sight.

She tried her best to reach them. She jumped once, then again, and again—but all in vain. The grapes were too high. Finally, tired and disappointed, she turned away and muttered to herself, “These grapes are probably sour anyway.”

Moral: People often pretend to dislike what they cannot get.

For 11th Class Student

One afternoon, a fox roamed the countryside, exhausted and famished. As she wandered through a vineyard, she caught sight of a luscious bunch of grapes dangling temptingly from a high vine. Their rich colour and shine made her mouth water.

Driven by hunger, she leapt with determination to reach the fruit. Again and again, she sprang upward, only to fall short each time. After several failed attempts, frustration overtook her. Trying to hide her disappointment, she scoffed, “Those grapes were probably sour anyway,” and walked away with false pride.

Moral: People often despise what they cannot attain.
