The Punjab Education Commission (PEC) was established in 2005 by the Punjab province government. One of the key duties of PEC is to organize timely, fair and transparent examination of 5th and 8th class in all 36 districts of Punjab. It organized 5th class annual examinations for the first time in 2006 and since then it has continued to perform this duty with efficiency and accuracy. After conducting the examinations, PEC also announced the complete result within next two months.

This year, PEC annual 5th class examination were held in the month of February. For this purpose, the Punjab Education Commission had completed the registration process during last year and date sheet was also announced during the month of December. The exams started in the month of February and total 5 subjects were included in the 5th class examination which were English, Science, Islamiat, Mathematics and Urdu.
