The AJK Board is responsible for conducting fair and transparent examinations for secondary and higher secondary students. The 2025 annual exams will begin in April for Matric (9th & 10th) and in May for Intermediate (11th & 12th). The Azad Jammu & Kashmir Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (AJKBISE) has officially released the date sheet for the 2025 annual examinations for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th classes. Students from Mirpur, Poonch, Kotli, Bhimber, Neelum, Bagh, Muzaffarabad, and other districts of AJK will appear for their Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) exams as per the schedule issued by the board.

The BISE AJK board was formed in 1973 by the government of the State of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Before the establishment of BISE AJK, the educational matters of Azad Kashmir were being handled by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore. The areas that come under the jurisdiction of BISE AJK board are Muzaffarabad, Neelam, Bagh, Bhimber, Mirpur, Kotli and Poonch.
