8th Class Exam Policy 2026 (PECTA Updates)
For the 2026 session, PECTA has introduced crucial changes:
- Centralized Exams: Government schools will conduct a centralized Board Exam starting February 16, 2026.
- Item Bank System: All papers (Board & SBA) are generated via QR-coded papers from the PECTA database.
- Conceptual Questions: 50% of the paper consists of reasoning-based MCQs (SLOs), moving away from rote learning.

Syllabus & Paper Pattern (SNC 2026)
The paper is divided into two sections: Objective (MCQs) and Subjective (CRQs).
Mathematics (Math)
Paper Split: 32 MCQs (48 Marks) + 5 CRQs (52 Marks).
Syllabus: Domain 1 (Numbers & Operations), Domain 2 (Algebra), Domain 3 (Measurement & Geometry), Domain 4 (Data Handling).
Key Change: Focus on “Logical Reasoning” questions from the item bank.
Science (General Science)
Physics: Force, Pressure, Electricity, and Magnetism.
Chemistry: Structure of Atom, Periodic Table, Chemical Reactions.
Biology: Biotechnology, Ecology, Human Organ Systems.
Pattern: Application-based MCQs (not just definitions).
Computer Education
Topics: Emerging Technologies (AI basics), Digital Citizenship, Spreadsheet (Excel), Problem Solving (Algorithms/Flowcharts).
History & Geography
History: Mughal Empire, British Rule, Pakistan Movement.
Geography: Maps, Climate of Pakistan, Environmental Problems.
Note: These are often taken as separate papers or combined under “Social Studies” depending on the school type.
What is the PECTA Item Bank System (IBS)?
The Item Bank is a digital database of thousands of questions created by PECTA.
Standardized Papers: Every school gets a unique paper generated from this bank, but the difficulty level is the same.
QR Codes: Papers now come with QR codes to prevent cheating and ensure authenticity.
